Overview

Cryptocurrency, sometimes called crypto-currency or crypto, is most commonly a form of digital money (eg, Bitcoin).

Cryptocurrency is any form of currency that exists digitally or virtually. It received its name because it uses encryption to verify transactions.

Cryptocurrencies don’t have a central issuing or regulating authority, instead using a decentralized system to record transactions and issue new units. This means it is a digital payment system that doesn’t rely on banks to verify transactions. It’s a peer-to-peer system that can enable anyone anywhere to send and receive payments.

The global crypto market is huge (>$2 trillion)!

If a small percentage of that went to pest eradication it would change the game.

Cryptocurrency is emerging and exciting technology. It is estimated 5% of the world (350mil people) already have cryptocurrency. What an opportunity to get more people engaged and interested in pest eradication!

First of all, you’re very welcome to!

Head to our donate page and make a direct donation to our charity without having to buy some PFT tokens.

The PFT token was not created to take away from existing ways to help. It was created as an additional/extra way of generating funding for pest eradication.

At PFT, we are trying to say, “hey, if you are already interested in crypto, the PFT token is a way that you can still have crypto but also do some good at the same time”.

The PFT token

The PFT token is a cryptocurrency. It helps to eradicate pests and makes you money at the same time.

It was established (minted) in October 2021 by a team of kiwis as an innovative way to help New Zealand meet its 2050 predator free target.

When you buy PFT tokens, you keep 100% of them however when you sell there will be a 3% fee.

Your PFT tokens are yours to keep. They will fluctuate in price (just like buying shares).

The 3% fee is then split into multiple parts:

  • One part goes to the Pest Free Token Charitable Trust (to eradicate pests)
  • One part goes to everyone else who also owns PFT (so you generate income from owning PFT)
  • One part goes to the liquidity pool (so there is always enough PFT to trade)
  • One part gets burnt (which means it is gone forever. The total supply of PFT gets smaller, and your PFT becomes rarer).

Cool fact: PFT is New Zealand’s first cryptocurrency established solely for charitable purposes. We are changing and challenging the way people can be charitable in New Zealand.

Not at all. PFT is one of the most environmentally friendly tokens around!

It wouldn’t make sense to create something to help the environment at the same time as ruining it.

Extensive effort was made during the project’s design phase to ensure the token followed the green image we are working to preserve.

To achieve this, PFT was ‘minted’ entirely in one electronic passing of the contract. This meant there is no mining or ongoing energy consumption, unlike many other crypto projects. This type of token is known as ‘proof of stake’, and there is plenty of information on the internet about this and the Polygon network if you’d like to learn more.

No fossil fuels; no massive ongoing energy use; no environmental harm. It is easy to see how PFT is so environmentally friendly!

Only the sell transaction attracts a 3% fee.

This means that to buy or transfer PFT from one wallet to another does not attract a fee.

Obviously there is an incentive to buy and hold!

Don’t forget that as a holder of PFT, you will also get a portion of the fee others pay when they sell their PFT. So get on board and start generating wealth today!

We publish all key wallet and contract addresses as part of our commitment to transparency. These can be inspected at any time on the Polygon network explorer or by following the links below.

Tokenomics is a crypto term used to describe the token’s economics.

It describes the factors that impact a token’s use and value, including but not limited to the token’s creation and distribution, supply and demand, incentive mechanisms, and token burn schedules.

For PFT only 1 million Pest Free Tokens were created by the developers, with 30% burnt, 40% sent to market supply, 20% to administration, and 10% retained.

The sell fee is split 1% to charity, 1% to liquidity, 0.38% is burnt, and 0.62% reflection.

You can read more about these in our Whitepaper.

Burning tokens means they go to a wallet which can never be accessed.

We deliberately burnt 30% of all PFT tokens at creation for two reasons.

1) Deflationary pressure. Every sell transaction at the contract level reflects to holders, and also sends a portion equal to 1/3 of these reflections to the burn address. This means the total supply decreases with every sell transaction.

Pre-burning is a common method of creating deflationary pressure without adding unnecessary costs.

PFT token project

This is the right question to ask. Crypto projects over the years have been plagued by scams and ‘rug-pulls’.

Firstly, we want the same outcome as you. We want to see the PFT community and the PFT charity benefit at the same time. Ultimately our goal is to fully eradicate all pests from New Zealand by 2050.

Secondly, PFT proudly conducts the project using a formal constitution and trust deed filed with the New Zealand Companies Office and Charities Services. You can read these documents via our legal page.

These documents fit with the four values of PFT; Transparency, Community, Service, and Integrity, and ensure:

  • 100% of all profit must be given to charity
  • Assets of the Pest Free Token Trust must be used for charitable purposes only
  • The Liquidity Pool has been locked
  • Developer tokens won’t be touched until after April 2025.

Investing in crypto always comes with its risks and you should never contribute more than you can afford. There are more details on our terms and conditions page, including that the developers, company, and trust accept no liability for any loss you may incur, and that the information on this site, including attachments, is not intended to be financial advice. We suggest you read these and seek independent advice if you have any concerns.

Pest Free Token (PFT) was established in October 2021 by Patrick Abel and Alex McGregor – two kiwis passionate about making New Zealand predator free.

PFT has since expanded to bring onboard Harrison Bissell – an energetic lad who is a weapon at making trap boxes.

What you do with your profit is up to you…but we guarantee that 100% of our profit will be used for charitable purposes.

For us, that means 100% of the Charity Wallet will go to the Pest Free Token Charitable Trust. 100% of the Administration Wallet, less expenses, will also be sent to the Trust.

The Trust provides funding to organisations that have demonstrated they have the intention, means, and/or proven history of achieving our goal, being the eradication of introduced pests in New Zealand.

Our Funding Policy steps through how recipients are chosen and what input the PFT community will have. Feel free to let us know if you have some good ideas!

All funding recipients will be published for transparency.

1 million Pest Free Tokens were created by the developers, with 30% burnt, 40% sent to market supply, 20% to administration, and 10% retained.

The Administration Wallet (holding 20%) is held by Pest Free Token Ltd, a limited liability company with the developers as current Directors. The Charity Wallet (which receives 1% of the sell transaction fee) is also held by the company.

All tokens earned by those wallets are used for charitable purposes, with 100% of the Charity Wallet being liquidated and sent to the Pest Free Token Trust. The remainder of the Administration Wallet, less expenses, is also be sent to the Trust.

For more confidence in this model, please feel free to peruse the Company Constitution and Trust Deed (via the legal page), or see the Whitepaper for a diagram.

You do not need to buy PFT to make a difference or be part of the PFT community!

You can play your part by:

  • Making a direct donation (either in NZD or crypto)
  • Ordering a trap
  • Raising awareness (eg, join us on social media)
  • Taking your own steps to reduce the spread of pests in New Zealand (eg, joining a local trapline or reducing waste).

Burning tokens means they go to a wallet which can never be accessed.

We deliberately burnt 30% of all PFT tokens at creation for two reasons.

1) Deflationary pressure. Every transaction at the contract level reflects to holders, which now includes the burn wallet. This means the total supply decreases with every transaction.

2) To put an extra burn step (above reflections) in the contract would result in higher fees, which means more cost to our community.

Pre-burning is a common method of creating deflationary pressure without adding unnecessary costs.
